Information on
Video Equipment Used
I am using a IP
VIDEO 9100a for the live video server. It cost around $100. Has
alarms for email. It runs kinda hot so I did take the top off to
keep it cool. It has 4 videos and 1 audio input. I am going to
try out a few more servers , to see which one works best. The
9100a so far is working fine. I had a hard time finding reviews
on most of the stand alone servers. I hope to review a few more.
It works best with Explorer, but will work with Firefox,
(Explorer & Firefox will ask you to intall a active x plug in
for the ip video 9100a). Once you install the plug in, Firefox
works great.

SVAT65 Camera
I found out the
roof mounted SVAT CV65 camera ($40), is a little dark, and not
quite in focus. I will replace this with a SVAT CV65 soon. I took
the SVAT CV65 apart. It unscrews from the front. I loosened the
set screw on the lens , so I could adjust the focus(you screw the
lens to move it in and out). Now it is focus, but still dark. No
way to adjust that. Nice and bright indoors. Update, I figured
out how to make it work a lot better outside on the roof. Move
the sun shield all the way up front and then the light does not
hit the sensor, where ever it is, and you get a better picture.
SVAT31 Hi Def
Camera
The SVAT CV31
mounted on the garage seems to be the best all round. Even at
night it has pretty good vision up to 25 feet. It is also the
sharpest picture. It meets all the specs. I am going to buy
another one and put on roof. These go for $85.
Lorex IP PSC 2230
server & camera
I also tried a
Lorex IP camera server PSC 2230. It is the server and usb camera.
It works, but NOT good. Hard to use s/w, only for indoors, hard
to setup stand alone server. When used outside, it just has a
washed out picture. Not worth the shipping.
I put a standard mouse in the picture to show the size of the
camera.
